Wayne E. Tipps, DDS
Dr. Wayne E. Tipps completed his undergraduate studies at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. He received his dental degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia in 1967 and completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Emory University hospital.
Following two years of service as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in the United States Air Force he returned to his hometown, Chattanooga to begin private practice.
Dr. Tipps maintains staff membership at all Chattanooga area hospitals and has served in various committee positions at their institutions.
He is certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and has served as a member of the Examination Committee for this national organization for six years. Additionally, he is certified by the American Board of Dental Anesthesiology. He holds memberships in the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Southeastern Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (SOMS), and the Tennessee Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (TOMS). Dr. Tipps is a Fellow of the American College of Dentistry (FACD) and a Fellow of the International College of Dentistry (FICD). He has received the Distinguished Service Award given by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He has served as President of the Tennessee and Southeastern Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Tipps is married to the former Valerie Foster Carter and they have three grown children: Dr. Jeff Tipps, Jennifer Surface, and Allen Carter. All are married and live in the area. Dr. Tipps and his wife, Valerie reside on Lookout Mountain. They are members of First-Centenary Methodist Church. Outside of the office his interests include golf, boating and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
